About Southern Park Mall 

The Mall was developed by the Edward J. DeBartolo Corporation in 1970, but is now owned and managed by  Washington Prime Group.

Three anchor stores were initially located in the mall. F.W. Woolworth’s Sears wing opened on October 13, 1969. In 1970 Stores included Youngstown DeBartolo’s Greater Boardman Plaza, Gray Drugs, Kroger, and Southern Park Theaters.

During the 1997 renovation, Simon Property Group spent $19 million improving the interior of the mall, including adding a food court and Cinemark Tinseltown movie theater on the southeastern edge. After DeBartolo Corporation merged with Simon Property Group, an extensive renovation took place. Seven screens were installed when it opened in 1997.

JCPenney and Macy’s are the only anchors left after Dillard’s closed on May 14, 2019.
